The Bamenda I Council is thrilled to share a major milestone with the public and residents of the sub-division: during the official Budgetary Session held on December 21, 2023, in the Council Chambers, the Municipal Councilors voted to adopt a historic financial plan for the 2024 fiscal year.

Convened in full compliance with Sections 165–196 of Law No. 2019/024 of 24th December 2019 bearing on the General Code of Regional and Local Authorities, the Council passed Deliberation No. 01/12/DEL/B1C/BS/2023. For the first time, the Council’s budget has reached a landmark balance in revenue and expenditure at 1,000,000,000 FCFA (One Billion FCFA).

Key Takeaways from the 2024 Budgetary Session

• Unanimous Consensus for Progress: The councilors deliberated and unanimously voted to adopt the 1 Billion FCFA budget to accelerate local development and infrastructural growth.

• High Attendance & Governance: Out of 31 total councilors in office, 30 participated in the session (with 29 present in person and 1 represented by proxy).

• Leadership & Executive Approval: The deliberations were led by the Mayor, Mr. Mbigha Njah Felix, alongside Secretary General Tebid Edith Endam, and received administrative approval from the Senior Divisional Officer for Mezam, Simon Emile Mooh.

Execution & Accountability

As outlined in Article 2 of the deliberation, the Mayor, the Secretary General, and the Municipal Treasurer are each tasked within their respective roles with the strict execution of this historic budget.

Crossing the one-billion FCFA threshold reflects the Council’s expanding capacity and commitment to transforming the Bamenda I Sub-Division through improved infrastructure, civic amenities, and public services throughout 2024.
